The first meeting in Azerbaijan, an energy resource-rich and one of the world’s oldest oil producing countries, was held this month on the launch of a pilot project on the construction of a floating solar power plant with a total capacity of 100 kW on Lake Boyukshor.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy, Tamiz Shahar OJSC, the Asian Development Bank. Also, in the local company in charge of this project attended to the meeting, Gamma Solutions. The procurement of Gamma Solutions was carried out by OCA Global as a result of the evaluation of the proposals received for the project. The construction of the station is planned to be carried out in cooperation with local companies.
This project is framed in the awarded contract "Development of Floating Solar Energy Systems" with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), through which OCA Global is supporting Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic to enhance their knowledge and technical skills in designing, constructing and operating solar PV plants, particularly floating PV, through pilot projects, commercial scale project feasibility studies, and hands-on institutional capacity building including in-depth study tours in leading FPV countries. The intended outcome is for the beneficiary countries to initiate the building of their first large-scale FPV plant.
