Testing PV modules at Puerto Real I Photovoltaic Plant
Since last August, OCA Global's PV Services department has been performing tests on a sample of approximately 3,000 photovoltaic modules at Puerto Real I photovoltaic plant, providing service to ELMYA’s on-site quality department. We are testing with our PV Mobile Lab, which has a tunnel-type solar simulator with PASAN flash technology and a line-type electroluminescence machine with MBJ technology. Visual inspections and insulation measurements are also being carried out on the modules before their installation.
Quality control of PV modules just before their installation is essential to avoid problems in their operation and performance that may be due to defects in their manufacture or transportation. Thanks to the testing, the types of defects and their potential reasons can be categorized, and the consequent contractual responsibilities can be executed.
Puerto Real I photovoltaic plant is located in the municipality of Puerto Real (Cádiz) and is expected to start its commercial operations in the first quarter of 2021, reducing greenhouse emissions by more than 175,000 tons once it’s in full operation, the equivalent of the emissions produced by 38,000 passenger vehicles in one year or the electricity to power almost 30,000 homes for a year.
At OCA Global we continue supporting the development of services in the renewable energy sector and we get involved in large-scale projects that help achieving the CO₂ emission reduction targets set in the PNIEC (Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan).
