OCA Global has been awarded with the ADB-funded project ”Preparing Renewable Energy for Climate Resilience” in Bhutan

OCA Global has signed a contract to implement the project “TA-6598 BHU: Preparing Renewable Energy for Climate Resilience” in Bhutan for the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Bhutan is experiencing lack of electricity during winter time and the lean season in terms of hydropower generation capacity. The country has to import most of its power from India, and it is currently looking at solar power to add capacity that could be tapped during this season avoiding the imports as well as the consumption of imported electricity and thus reducing CO2 emissions.

The objective of this consultancy is to promote the development of solar PV energy in Bhutan, by preparing pre-feasibility studies for ground mounted solar PV in several pre-selected locations in the country and a feasibility study, as well as implementing a Roof Top Solar (RTS) Pilot in Thimphu, capital of Bhutan.

OCA Global will prepare a full feasibility study including technical, climate change, environmental, social, economic and financial analysis and the procurement strategy and plan. We will also study the Roof Top deployment and scale-up options for the Governmental buildings.
