Our background

OCA Global today

To understand OCA Global’s vision, values and mission it is necessary to know about our background and history.

The OCA project was created in 2010, but our origins go back to 1979 when our chairman, Ramon Fajula, founded a pioneer business project that revolutionised the industrial inspection and certification Spanish sector: ECA.

ECA group, with a team that included more than 4,000 employees spread out across the 5 continents, was, for many years, the leading Spanish company in the industry and a quality benchmark at international level until it was absorbed by a multinational group.

However, the same philosophy and values that generated that project and – more importantly – many of the people who were part of ECA, play today a crucial role in OCA Global.

Respecting our origins, and with humility, enthusiasm, and effort, we are prepared to face new challenges in this new stage in order to become leaders in our sector and continue writing new chapters in our history.

At the end of 2010, a new business venture – OCA Global – was launched with the aim of becoming an international leading inspection, certification and testing company.

The foundations of this project were established through to the purchase of three certification and inspection Spanish companies in 2010:

  • CALITAX: Catalan certification company with more than 50 years of history dedicated to agri-food product certification and management systems.
  • IAC: Basque certification company with offices in Bilbao, Madrid, Alicante, and Malaga dedicated to the certification of management systems.
  • ENTECOI: industrial inspection company accredited in various fields established in Madrid.

Accordingly, on January 1, 2012 the Spanish subsidiary of the French group SOCOTEC, with more than 300 workers in Spain, was also acquired – this operation allowed us to significantly increase our presence throughout the peninsula.

Since then, OCA Global has experienced and exponential organic growth, becoming a leader company within the inspection and industrial certification sector in record time. We are also leaders in new lines of business such as energy efficiency, technical vehicle inspection, environment-related services, and performance of advanced non-destructive tests, among other activities that have been incorporated to our global service portfolio.

OCA Global, currently with more than 1,400 employees around the world, has more than 80 offices located in 11 countries, even though we conduct our services in more than 50 countries.
