OCA Global validates the sustainability project of the temporary exhibition "Historias de una isla. Archaeology of Gran Canaria

14.06.2023

The Sociedad Científica El Museo Canario, with the collaboration of the CABILDO DE GRAN CANARIA, recently inaugurated at the Museo Arqueológico Nacional (MAN), in Madrid, its temporary exhibition "Historias de una isla. Archaeology of Gran Canaria".

This exhibition covers the history and cultural diversity from the arrival of the first settlers to the present day. Among other topics of interest, it shows the ways of life of the pre-Hispanic society, the process of the Castilian conquest in the 15th century, piracy in the Modern Age or trade relations with other territories.

By their very nature, temporary exhibitions have a challenging impact on sustainable development. In order to respond to the challenges posed by the 2030 Agenda, the Canary Islands Museum developed an environmental and social impact assessment project and a plan of measures aimed at turning the exhibition into a sustainable event.

The International Institute of Shared Value is a non-profit institution made up of professionals from the social, educational, scientific, political and business fields who bring together knowledge and projects for the creation of an ethical and sustainable society. By means of the Certificate for the Creation of Shared Value, and the independent technical validation of the project carried out by OCA Global, on May 30 we presented this prestigious certificate to the Director of the Scientific Society El Museo Canario, Daniel Pérez Estévez, and to the Director of the National Archaeological Museum, Isabel Izquierdo Peraile, coinciding with the inauguration of the Exhibition.

Many thanks to Luis Antonio González Pérez Pérez for entrusting OCA Global with the project validation work, and to Daniel Pérez Estévez for his commendable work. It has been an honor to participate in this beautiful pioneer project in Spain.
