Promoting the development of distributed solar photovoltaic systems in Uzbekistan

During the month of June, through a kick-off meeting, OCA Global initiated a new project in Uzbekistan: "Promotion of distributed solar photovoltaic systems to improve energy access (KSTA UZB 54408-001).

OCA Global will provide technical assistance in the development of the government's sector strategy for distributed solar systems to further improve the quality of electricity in remote regions and also to scale up through private investments. Specifically, we will provide technical and legal support to identify gaps in policy and regulatory frameworks, and provide practical implementation measures for the renewable energy auction mechanism that will enable greater participation of private investors in small-scale renewable energy projects.

In addition, our team will participate in the installation of a distributed solar PV system of at least 20 kilowatts (kW), and in institutional capacity building through hands-on training in planning, design, development, implementation and operation of the distributed solar PV system and a study tour.

This project would help the country expand distributed solar PV systems and contribute to improving energy access and meeting the government's commitment to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
