On-site inspection and quality control of the LNG Bunker terminals in the ports of Bilbao and Santander
26.10.2022
OCA Global has carried out, during the years 2021 and 2022, the works of Inspection, Legalization, Quality Control and Non Destructive Testing, during the construction and commissioning of the Terminals for Storage and Supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (Bunker) to Vessels in the Port of Bilbao.
The company Repsol has executed the construction of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker terminal at the puerto de Bilbao, from where it will be supplied to Brittany Ferries' vessels, named "Salamanca" and "Santoña", which will start operations in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The construction of this terminal is part of the long-term collaboration agreement formalized in 2019 between Repsol and Brittany Ferries for the supply of LNG in its operations in Spain and this facility is scheduled to be commissioned in the first half of 2022.
The Port of Bilbao is a reference in the gas market, moving around 3.8 million tons of natural gas per year, making it the first LNG port in the State.
After the completion of the work at the Port of Bilbao, the OCA Global team will move to the Port of Santander, replicating the installation executed and contributing, in the same way as in Bilbao, to its green transformation, with the construction of its new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) supply station for ferries. This is the first step in the new configuration of the area, freeing up the Maritime Station, which will be dedicated exclusively to cruise ships.
This is a great challenge for OCA Global, in which our company brings the great experience of our engineers and technicians in the inspection of equipment and facilities within the metal-mechanical and Non Destructive Testing area, in the environment, this time, of high-tech cryogenic equipment and with the aim of contributing to the energy transformation.
