We implemented the project "Use of renewable energy for climate resilience" in Bhutan
01.08.2022
OCA Global has signed a contract to implement the project "TA-6598 BHU: Using Renewable Energy for Climate Resilience" in Bhutan for the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Bhutan is experiencing a lack of electricity during the winter and low hydropower generation season. The country has to import most of its power from India and is currently considering employing solar power to add capacity that could be utilized during this season by avoiding imports and consumption of imported electricity and thereby reducing CO2 emissions.
The objective of this consultancy is to promote the development of solar PV in Bhutan by preparing preliminary feasibility studies for plants in several pre-selected locations in the country and preparing a feasibility study, as well as implementing a pilot PV project on the rooftops of Thimphu, Bhutan's capital city.
OCA Global will prepare a full feasibility study including technical, climate change, environmental, social, economic and financial analysis and procurement strategy and plan. We will also study the options for implementation and scale-up of large-scale photovoltaics on the rooftops of government buildings.
